Partners For Patriots Month

November is a great month to reflect on gratitude. We have been given so much. What are YOU grateful for? I personally have so much to be grateful for. I am grateful to live in such a wonderful country. I’m grateful for health and healing and family. I’m especially grateful for all of you, my LuLaRoe family.

As you know, November 11 was Veteran’s Day. It is an important day for me because I am a Veteran myself. I am a US army combat veteran. I have seen first-hand the sacrifice that SO MANY people have made for our country and for its ideals. I am humbled to have personally known courageous, caring men and women who served and sacrificed much. One thing that people don’t always think about is the “battle scars,” seen and unseen that every veteran comes home with. In one way or another, the rest of their lives veterans deal with the effects of their time in the military.

For this reason, during the month of November, I am going to donate a percentage of my onlineLuLaRoe sales to an amazing non-profit organization that profoundly helps veterans. This group is called, Partners for Patriots, partnersforpatriots.org. You’ve got to look at their website. You will be inspired! Hey, you may even want to donate, too.

Partners for Patriots

Partners for Patriots obtains dogs from shelters and rescues and trains them for 6 months to 1.5 years. Then, they are given to veterans, free of charge, to be a friend and a companion. Veterans receiving dogs also get up to 15 days of training as well.

These dogs are life-changing for these veterans. Many, too many, veterans suffer from PTSD (post-traumatic stress syndrome). Some of them have nightmares or trouble functioning in society because of this condition. Some of them have chronic depression, anxiety, and even anger. These amazing dogs are trained to sense anxiety and to help calm people down. They can even wake veterans from nightmares. Suicide is a huge problem among veterans. Some struggle to assimilate back into society after their service. Dogs help them so much. A dog accepts you and loves for who you are. Dogs have few expectations, other than their basic needs. These dogs will listen and never tell anyone what they hear. And, they can help veterans in more ways than you can imagine.

For example, they can open the fridge, open the dryer and take clothes out of it. They can bring the phone to a veteran, pick up things dropped, help with balance, open doors and hold them open, help in emergencies, assist with stairs, and turn lights on and off.

I am blown away by the impact this organization is having on veterans. Currently, they place about 15 dogs a year. They are hoping to grow and to be able to double number of dogs they place.

I want to support them in this goal and you can, too. November is a great month to shop for a Christmas present for you. Have you been wanting a new dress for the holidays? Or a new outfit? Wait no longer. Get something for you that you deserve and help veterans along the way. Jillian Ortner LuLaRoe is the place where you can do both.
